Is this a good opening to a novel I'm writing?
I'm writing a book and I want to know if this is a good start. And please don't be rude! I'd apreciate any imput you could give me. CHAPTER 1 Kaitlin Kursh, or Kat as most people called her, stood hidden behind a bush around the back of the hottest club in town, the place teens loved and parents hated, Pandemonium. She was waiting for her best friend, Lulu, and feeling immensely awkward in her jean bootie shorts, a low cut tank top that showed off far too much of her stomach, and high heeled boots that came up to her knees. She brushed her thick auburn hair from her face and glanced around nervously. Lulu was supposed to meet her there five minutes ago, and she was starting to wonder if she had forgotten when her friend came bounding over from across the road. ?Sorry I?m late,? she whispered. ?My mom wouldn?t let me out of the house,? she adjusted her long sleeved shirt with a hole in the stomach. She was also wearing a Minnie skirt and lace up sandals with netted leggings. ?Let?s just get inside,? Kat said. ?I feel weird enough wearing this stuff.? Lulu nodded and led her to the back entrance of the club. A sign hanging on the door warned them not to enter, but Lulu ignored it and pulled a bobby pin from behind her ear. It took her only several seconds to pick the lock, but to Kat it felt like an eternity. ?Hurry up,? she whispered. ?Almost done-got it!? she pushed the door open and the two girls stepped inside. Lout music pounded in their ears as the flashing white and blue lights blinded them temporarily. Kat had never been in Pandemonium before, and once she could see, she was stunned. The blue and white checked dance floor was crowded with people dressed like them. At the other side of the dance floor lit up red was the bar where several people sat and drank. Small groups of people clustered near the walls laughing and talking. She looked around blinking, trying to figure out how it was possible to walk around without bumping into each other, but before she could, Lulu grabbed her arm and dragged her across the dance floor to the bar. ?Two margaritas!? she shouted to the bar tender over the defining music. The man nodded and handed them two glasses. Kat looked around again. Most people were with their friends, but she saw one guy standing by himself. He was tall with tawny hair and eyes that, from a distance, looked yellow or gold. He was wearing ratty jeans with holes in both the knees and a leather jacket, unzipped, with the sleeves rolled up. He wasn?t wearing a shirt under it. The guy kept scanning the crowd as if looking for someone. His eye caught hers and their gazes looked. Kat felt as if she could always stare into those beautiful fierce eyes, but he had already looked away. ?I?ll be right back!? she called to Lulu, but she was flirting with another guy and didn?t hear her. Still mesmerized by the tawny haired boy in the corner, Kat slipped off her stool and began to move towards him. As she approached, his gaze turned to her once again. Up close, she could see how impossibly beautiful his eyes were, flecked with every shade of yellow and gold imaginable. She also saw faint curved markings, like faded tattoos, on his muscular chest. ?Hello,? she said softly, suddenly feeling very shy next to this proud lion-like boy. Her breath was caught in her throat and her heart felt like it was trying to beat right out of her chest. ?I?m, Kate.? He smiled slightly at her, his expression warming to this odd creature standing before him. ?Hello, Kate,? he said in a voice that was warm and almost musical. ?I?m Fabian.? ?Fabian, you come here often?? He glanced around again like a lion searching for the weakest gazelle before answering. ?Yes, sometimes.? She nodded and suddenly felt embarrassed about the cloths she was wearing. advice on High School dating. guy opinions?
I am a junior in high school and i kinda need advice. To describe myself: I am a very focused girl in school. I got voted best dressed and I am in the varsity choir. I am on top of my grades all the time and i know when its time to have fun and when to focus. I am not popular but i am not a geeky loser girl. I guess i am in the middle. The fact is that there is this guy that I like, lets call him Joe. Well Joe is a Senior and he is amazing, I havent ever dated in my life and I have been waiting around to just find a nice guy because all the guys in my school are so immature. Well Joe is such a nice guy he is in everything! He is the class president,t he is in all the clubs, and he is in choir as well. He is a person that will do anything for anyone and he always puts himself second. The problem is that since he is so nice to everyone i dont know if he likes me. I cant tell because that is just his nature to be nice. When we talk i feel like he always has a big heart. Guys i have never dated so what advice to you give. Its kinda embarrassing that i am a junior and i have never dated. I dont know what to do I feel like he is just an amazing person and maybe im not to good for him. I need help.
