Where in Los Angeles is the best place to go for a veil and a tiara?
I had heard that downtown Los Angeles was a great place to go shopping for bridal stuff and wedding stuff. But I'm kind of intimidated to go down there. I remember going to the Cooper building when I was a teenager to shop for my prom dress. There were lot's of stores in one building and we didn't have to drive all over town and find different places to park cause everything was in one spot. Where's the best place to go down there? Is the Cooper building still there & still hip?

Is Being Called Curvy A Compliment?
The reason I am asking is because I went shopping for bridal gowns and bridesmaid dresses with my stepmum-to-be and her daughter yesterday and when I was trying on dresses, my stepmum-to-be said that I was "quite curvy in all the 'right' spots" and then her daughter scoffed and glared at me. I don't know if it was a compliment or not because she was always saying things about "how pretty her daughter is" whenever she was over at my house. I mean, I don't blame her for showing off her daughter because the daughter is a size 2 (american) and is practically what one would call a "modern-day beauty". I am 5'5" (I think that is what is it in standard system, sorry I'm used to metric) and my jeans are a size 4 (american), but all the dresses I tried on were size 7 or 8 (american) because they were the only ones to fit my body shape. Would you consider her quote to be a compliment, and if so what are the "right" spots to be curvy in?

Dueling advice on the Engagement Ring. Please clarify?
My sister's boyfriend is getting ready to propose. Just in case, my sister has told me her choice of rings. Her best friend who I normally agree with has been clashing with me on advice. She says it is rude for her to give her opinion about the purchase of the ring. She should accept any ring he gives her. (wait there is more). However, no one wears their engagement ring anyway. They put it away once the bridal set is purchased. Once the couple starts shopping for bridal sets a new ring is purchase and the original is put in a box. (So I snarkily said, so you mean when you get to have a choice in the ring you keep that one.) She finished by telling my sister most women do it this way? She is engaged with married friend and I am the single sister. So help me out here, what is more standard?
